I always believed I communicated best through written word; hence my passion for writing beginning as a child. I had countless diaries (which later became journals upon entering junior high — diaries were no longer cool) and I would spend hours writing fictional chapter books for fun (Roald Dahl was my idol). Throughout the years, my passion for writing has prevailed, but it was not until recently that I decided to focus in on the journalism field.
Dance is another passion of mine. Upon graduating from Naperville Central High School, I decided to attend Fordham University in New York City, where I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance performance, along with a minor in communications and media studies. Attending Fordham and living in the Big Apple for four years was one of the best decisions I ever made!
Since moving back to Naperville this past summer, I became an educator at lululemon athletica where I promoted people to live longer, healthier, more fun lives by creating great relationships with guests and being active in the community. I also created and wrote for The Scoop, the first lululemon athletica mini-magazine for a store that corresponded with lululemon's vision of living a healthy lifestyle.
I am currently writing for The Ultimate Bridal Magazine, based in Bakersfield, Calif., and am about to return to NYC to freelance at SELF Magazine, where I will work closely with the beauty editors to complete the Healthy Beauty Awards project. Make sure to check out the May 2011 issue!
Here are some of the things that I love: ballet, yoga, relaxing with a good book or magazine, my family, boyfriend and friends, photography, coffee (a must-have every morning), baking, and simply living life!
I am thrilled to be writing for Yorkville's Patch, and am looking forward to creating great relationships within the Yorkville community.
