Yorkville police suspect alcohol was a factor.
A 24-year-old Oswego resident died after he was thrown from his Chevrolet Equinox about 1:10 a.m. Friday on Route 126 west of Route 71, Yorkville police said. Marco Reyes, of Ridgefield Way, was headed east on Route 126 before the curve near Identa Road when the vehicle went to the right, overcorrected, crossed Route 126, hit a culvert and rolled, police said. The vehicle came to rest upside-down. Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene. Police found beer bottles and containers, including at least one that was partially full, and Reyes had a strong odor of alcohol about him, Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Donald Schwartzkopf said. The event in Town Square Park features games and police demonstrations.
The Yorkville Police Department will participate tonight in a national effort that encourages residents to meet their neighbors and law enforcement, according to a news release. National Night Out will feature games, food and demonstrations from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in Town Square Park. Then, the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department will show Puss in Boots at Beecher Community Park, starting at dusk. Both events are free. Yorkville's National Night Out "is hosted by the Yorkville Police Department with the assistance of Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District, Grand Rental Station, Home Plate Hotdogs, Yorkville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni, Yorkville Parks and Recreation and Target," according to the news release.

The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics hit Kendall County on Wednesday. Runners were escorted by local police.
On Wednesday, more than 50 runners took to the streets to participate in the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run through Kendall County, to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics. And among them were 22 representatives from local law enforcement, including the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department, and police departments from Oswego, Yorkville and Plano. The Illinois Torch Run is now in its 26th year. Runners raised more than $2.9 million in 2011, and organizers set a goal of $3 million for this year. (The 2012 fundraising total has not yet been released.) The Kendall County portion of the run began at Blackberry Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, and ended in Home Town Park in Yorkville.
