Show Some Love During Teacher Appreciation Week

Give a shout out to a teacher who has made a difference in your or your child's life.

Monday marks the start of Teacher Appreciation Week in Yorkville 115. There are plenty of ways to go about giving your teacher some appreciation - a card, a potted flower,  some fresh baked cookies or an apple (can never go wrong with an apple) - who, after all, is the individual that devotes forty plus hours a week to teaching our kids throughout the year. We want to spread some of that love on Patch. If you've ever had a teacher in the past or present who has inspired you, taught you something invaluable or has just been plain awesome, give them a shout out down below.  Thank you teachers for all you do!

Well, I guess all the oppressive taxes we pay to the teachers just isn't showing enough "love", huh? And so glad that children are being taught whatever is taught so that they can feel "empowered" while the rest of us older people find that we are becoming powerless to deal with the economic burdens we are under.   more ›

One New Face Joins Yorkville City Council, Write-In for Yorkville 115 Board

There will be plenty of familiar faces on both the City Council and Yorkville 115 Board come spring.

There weren't too many shake-ups in this year's local election for Yorkville. Yorkville City Council Ward 1 saw incumbent Ken Koch defeat newcomer Fred Anderson. Larry Kot ran unopposed in Ward 2. Ward 3 saw the only changing of the guard with newcomer Joel Frieders beating out fellow newcomer Samuel Clementez and incumbent Marty Munns, who had been elected for three terms previously. Ward 4 had incumbent Diane L. Teeling defeat challenger Seaver Tarulis. Yorkville 115 Board of Education only saw a change come with a write-in candidate, Jason Senffer, for one of two elected candidates for outside Bristol Township.
