Three Yorkville High School wrestlers will compete in the state tournament.
Brackets are set for the Individual Class AA State Wrestling Tournament in Champaign later this week. Three Yorville High School wrestlers qualified for the tournament last week after the IHSA AA Rochelle Sectional. Wrestlers Gunnar Hjorth, Tyler Wilkinson and Bobby Schillinger will compete in the Feb. 14-16 tournament. This past weekend Wilkinson placed first in the 160 pound division and Schillinger placed first in the 182 pound division. Hjorth finished third in the 152 pound division. The Foxes compete in the IHSA AA Rochelle Sectional this weekend.
Support the Foxes and tune in to playonsports.com to watch the Yorkville High School wrestling team compete in the IHSA AA Rochelle Sectional at 4:30 p.m. today. The broadcast will begin and end at the scheduled time. Wrestlers who finished in second and third place in last week's regional tournament will compete this afternoon. Yorkville's Bobby Schillinger, who won the 182-pound division last week, will wrestle Saturday. Finals should begin about 5 p.m. Saturday. Brackets for the different weight classes can be found here. Last week Yorkville racked up 172.5 team points to finish first in the IHSA Pontiac Regional Tournament. Last the month grapplers placed first in the NIB-XII Conference Championship.

Team beats out Sycamore High School for top spot after scoring error discovered.
The Yorkville High School wrestling team placed first in the NIB-XII Conference Championship. The team initially finished in second-place, but during the tournament the athletic director of Sycamore High School, which was initially the first-place team, discovered a series of scoring errors. After adjusting the scores, Yorkville placed first and Sycamore placed second. In an email Chauncey Carrick, the Sycamore athletic director, said he knew "something was not jiving" with the scores and wanted to make sure things were correct. Individual tournament results included Bobby Schillinger placing first in the 182 division and Tyler Wilkinson placed first in the 160 division. Bobby Schillinger is in the semi-finals, if he wins in the Semi-finals later today he will be wrestling for the Illinois "AA" Championship at 182 pounds tommorrow night. more ›
