Kendall County is one of only 18 counties in Illinois to earn a StormReady designation from the U.S. Department of Commerce- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/ National Weather Service. Jim Allsopp from NOAA National Weather Service presented the Kendall County Board members and Joseph Gillespie, Director of Kendall County Emergency Management Agency (KCEMA) with the StormReady designation on October 16, 2012. This included a StormReady certificate and road signs. Oswego is also one of 58 communities in Illinois that is considered StormReady.
