Yorkville Santa Shuffle a Success Saturday
Event was a fundraiser for Suicide Prevention Services.
Run raised several hundred dollars for Batavia-based prevention organization.
Yorkville residents were treated to a unique site Saturday morning as 32 runners dressed as Santa Claus participated in a run to raise money for Suicide Prevention Services. "The event was fantastic! We had a ton of fun," Jennifer Slepicka, the event organizer said in an email following the run. Read Slepicka's account of the shuffle here. Runners gathered at Jewel on Route 47 and "shuffled" their way to River City Roasters for hot cocoa and cookies and then shuffled back to Jewel Osco. Participants paid $25 and were provided with a Santa suit. Slepick said she did not know exactly how much was raised for the Batavia-based Suicide Prevention Services, but said it was several hundred dollars.
