Council Continues to Look at Budget, Reallocation of Prairie Parkway Funds

Session begins at 7 p.m. at city hall.

Yorvkille officials will continue to delve into the proposed budget Tuesday night, examining the various funds in the 2014 spending plan. Earlier this month the board heard a presentation by City Administrator Bart Olson providing a broad view of the budget, including an expected shortfall of $700,000 in the city's general fund, cuts in the leaf pickup program, cutting city payments to the Kendall Area Transit and a monthly $8 road infrastructure fee on residents. Council will look at funding for street maintenance, engineering costs and other city services during the meeting. In addition to the budget, officials will receive an update on replacement of 20 downtown parking stalls in the Old Jail Parking Lot. The spaces are being replaced …

City All But Rejects Evergreen Farms Proposal

The crowd spoke out against moving clean dirt from the Route 47 construction project to a 46-acre parcel off Fox Road.

Yorkville aldermen are poised to reject a special use permit to allow contractors to fill uncontaminated dirt from the Route 47 road expansion project on 46 acres off Fox Road west of town. Aldermen voted Tuesday to have the city attorney prepare an ordinance denying D Construction Management’s request for Evergreen Farms Estates, which sits east of Pavilion Road both north and south of Fox Road. Because plan commissioners suggested rejecting the permit, aldermen would have had to approve the application with a two-thirds majority vote. Aldermen are expected to vote on the ordinance at their next meeting May 8. The crowd filled the City Council Chambers seats, with a few people standing in the back and no residents speaking in favor of the…

I honestly can't see the problem that was made of filling in this property, in fact, check out how steep the roadside is on the North just West of Fox Glen. It was Fox Glen that was built in the flood plain back when KRG did that work. This City Administration is a joke to let idiot people get up and rant about it. By the …   more ›

Route 47 Fill Site Proposal Sent Back to Commissioners

Plan commissioners have been asked to list the reasons they suggested the City Council deny a special use permit for the proposed fill site.

Yorkville’s plan commissioners are expected to list the reasons they don’t want construction crews to dump clean dirt from the Route 47 expansion project on a property along Fox Road. The commissioners voted, 0-5, against suggesting Brandon Road Properties receive a special use permit, but they did not include written “findings of fact,” Yorkville City Administrator Bart Olson said. Plan commissioners will be discussing those reasons Wednesday but are not expected to take another vote. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the City Hall conference room. The City Council’s Economic Development Committee postponed discussing the matter Tuesday until the commissioners finished; the City Council will make the final decision on the special use permit…

Rezoning has absolutely nothing to do with this topic, they aren't rezoning anything on the property. The property was bought exactly for the residential zoning so that they could get the permit to place the dirt in the first place is what the understanding is, nowhere else in the City limits will let you dump the dirt based on that zoning classification. You watch these trucks will come down Fox…   more ›
