Annual Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce Rain Barrel Contest Nearing
Applications for contest being accepted.
The application process for the 2013 Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce Rain Barrels on Parade begin this week. Barrel sponsors will be paired with area artists to paint and decorate the barrels before they are auctioned off. The auction will be held May 4 at the spring craft fair. Prior to the auction the barrels will be on display across the city for three weeks. Proceeds will be used to fund a scholarship for a graduating high school senior and to promote green living in the city of Yorkville. Barrell sponsorship is $75. I have a Rainwater Hub (www.rainwaterhub.com) which enables me to send collected rainwater up to 150' using regular garden hoses, so that rain barrels don't need to be tied to the downspout and at the corner of the house. Additional rain barrels can be added, or other less expensive water storage containers as they now be more discreetly located around a property. more ›
