Letter to the Editor: Supporting Auditor Candidate
Voters will be asked March 20 if they want to eliminate the auditor position; voting no on the question would support creating that county office.
From now, until March 20, voters will be asked to eliminate the elected County Auditor position. The Republican Party has a top notch candidate for County Auditor. His name is Alvin P. “Phil” Smith. This Salutatorian Oswego High School alumnus went to Northern Illinois University, and graduated Summa cum Laude in Accounting. He furthered his education by graduating from the DePaul University College of Law. Should the voters choose to keep the elected County Auditor, we could not wish for a better person as our next County Auditor. David, Your facts are not correct, I did help Mr. Lea to run for Sheriff & that part is the only thing you got right, he was not unqualified, he had several years’ experience working in the law enforcement field and was working on his master’s degree (now completed) at the time he chose to run in June 2010, plus he owns his own home in Yorkville where he resides with his wife and child.
