Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are all possible.
Get ready for some storms. The storm system that dropped large hail and tornadoes on parts of Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma is now headed toward Illinois. The National Weather Service has placed most of Illinois in the "slight risk" category for severe weather on Monday and Tuesday. The main threats on both days will be damaging winds and large hail. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center noted in its technical discussions that isolated tornadoes are also possible on Monday and Tuesday. After 24 hours of snowfall, the National Weather Service said Yorkville had the most snow.
How much snow did Yorkville get? A lot. How does that compare to the rest of the area? Well, according to the National Weather Service, Yorkville claims the prize of having the most snowfall in a 24 hour period from 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning to 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. Yorkville got a total of 11.7 inches, according to the NWS, which beat out Ottawa (11 inches) and De Kalb (10.2 inches). And what did some of our neighbors get? As of 8:31 p.m. Tuesday night, the NWS reported that Oswego had 8.1 inches of snow. Plano at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday was reported with 8.3 inches.

A winter storm watch is in effect late Monday night through Tuesday evening.
Updated at 11 a.m. March 4: The winter storm watch is now a warning, according to the NWS. The warning is in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday until midnight March 5. The warning calls for heavy snow starting very early Tuesday, persisting until Tuesday evening with periods of heavy snow and accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, "with locally higher amounts possible," the NWS said. With snowfall rates of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour at times, the storm will likely affect the morning rush hour Tuesday and the late evening commute. Gusting winds of up to 30 mph are possible at times later Tuesday and into Tuesday night, along with blowing and drifting snow in open areas. Snow — possibly mixed with sleet — is expected to begin Tuesday morning, continuing into the afternoon and tapering to lighter snow Tuesday evening. Snowfall may be heavy at times throughout the day Tuesday, according to the NWS. Snow accumulation over six inches is possible across the area, according to the winter storm watch. In the city of Yorkville, residents are prohibited from parking on city streets any time snow reaches a depth of two or more inches until streets have been plowed.

Winds are 25-35 mph with gusts of 45-50 mph
Hold on to your hats, it’s going to be a windy day! The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect for Kendall County from now until 4:00 p.m. Winds are expected to be 25-35 mph with some gusts going up to 45-50 mph. The NWS says the high winds can cause minor property damage and can make travel hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Wind chill values expected to be between 15 to 25 below tonight.
It's going to be a cold one tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Kendall County that begins on Thursday at midnight until 10:00 a.m. Friday morning. A wind chill advisory means there will be very cold air and strong winds that combine to make a wind chill. Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if precautions are not taken, warns the NWF. If you must go outside, the NWF recommends being sure to wear a hat and gloves. Stay warm!

The National Weather Service will provide this training in the auditorium of the Yorkville Middle School, located at 920 Prairie Crossing Drive, Yorkville, IL 60560. Wind chills expected to be well below zero today.
It will be a cold and windy Martin Luther King Jr,. Holiday today across the Chicagoland region. The National Weather Service issued a a wind chill advisory from 6 p.m. tonight through 9 a.m. Tuesday. Wind chill temperatures could drop as low as -25 degrees, according to the weather service report. Today's forecast calls for scattered flurries before 10 a.m. and highs around 12 degrees. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph. Cold temperatures will continue through Tuesday with a high of 5 to 12 degrees and wind chills of up to -15 below, according to the report.
