Toftoy, the incumbent county coroner, received 57 percent of the vote to retain his office while challenger Mike Dabney could only gather about 42 percent.
Michael Dabney has said he has no regrets on the way he ran his race for Kendall County Coroner. "I ran the campaign I wanted. Kendall County is a great place and I have thousands of more friends than I had before this campaign began,” Dabney said Tuesday night as results came in. Running as an independent, Dabney challenged 20-year incumbent Ken Toftoy for the position. Toftoy, who also serves as chairman of the Kendall County Republican Party, maintained a firm lead over Dabney as election results came in Tuesday night. Incumbent Ken Toftoy and challenger Michael Dabney square of over budget, number of deputy coroners and other issues during Thursday's event.

Toftoy said he has maintained a stable budget for the office for the past two years and …

Patch blogger Todd Milliron, who supports Toftoy's opponent in the November election, has asserted that the deputy coroner's pay should be set by the Kendall County Board. Toftoy, a longtime incumbent and chairman of the Kendall County Republican Central Committee, is facing independent Mike Dabney, an Oswego firefighter. An attorney in the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office told Toftoy he needed to change his pay policies to comply with IRS regulations, Toftoy said. Toftoy had been paying deputy coroners $24 a day when they were "on call," plus a $100 stipend …
