Shopping, bouncing and benefitting the food pantry. That’s what area residents and businesses plan on doing tonight at the Holiday Bounce and Shop at Bounce Town in Oswego. Residents are encouraged to bring canned foods and other non-perishable items to donate to the Kendall County Food Pantry in exchange for discounted bounce passes. Passes will be $7 for 90 minutes of open bouncing and $9 for two hours. A 50/50 raffle for holiday items will also be held, with all proceeds benefitting the food pantry. Local businesses and craftsmen will be on hand selling wares during the festivities. Participating businesses include: The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Dr. Lea Cornish challenges others to donate to county food pantry.
After presenting a $1,000 donation to the Kendall County Food Pantry, Yorkville chiropractor Lea Cornish of Cornish Chiropractic is encouraging others to support the organization as well. Cornish Chiropractic worked with other area businesses to collect the contributions in order to ensure the people who use the food pantry will have food throughout the holiday season. "The Kendall County Food Pantry’s efforts, especially this time of year, are so important for the people and families they serve," Cornish said in a press release. "I encourage anyone to contribute in any way they can to the Food Pantry. They provide such a valuable service to so many in the area." The Yorkville Grade School PTO, Daisy Troop 399 and Brownie Troop 166 collected hundreds of food items during the YGS Fall Food and Fund Drive for the Kendall County Food Pantry, which ended Nov. 9. During three weeks in October and November, the troop members and their classmates brought non-perishable food items to Yorkville Grade School. In all, they collected 310 food items and $25 in cash donations. According to the KCFP, each dollar donated purchases $6 worth of food at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, making the drive’s cash donation equivalent to $150 of food. “We are extremely pleased with the results of the drive,” said Kelly Krantz, Troop 399 leader. “We are proud of our …

The Oswego Chamber of Commerce Leads groups again had their Great Hunger Challenge Food Drive on Thursday, November 8th and collected food and money for the Kendall County Food Pantry. Cindy Thompson, Oswego Community Bank; Jeannie LaMarre, Fox Valley Trophy & Tastefully Simple and Natalie LaMarre delivered the items collected included $1554 in cash and checks to Maria Spaeth of the Kendall County Food Pantry. The Kendall County Food Pantry Pet Food Department will be holding a pet food drive on both Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 at the Oswego Petco Store, 3066 Highway 34. A special thanks to Mary Anne Ryan, of the Kendall County Food Pantry's food distribution program, for providing this news release and photograph. Yorkville Middle School Student Council Members assisted Kendall County Food Pantry Pet Food Distributor, Mary Anne Ryan, at a pet food drive at the Oswego Petco. The food drive took place on Saturday, 9/22/12. The students, who asked Petco customers to donate to the pantry, brought in 240 pounds of purchased pet food and $177.

The fundraiser Friday benefited YARN Foundation Inc. and the Kendall County Food Pantry.
The Man Store raised about $3,800 for the YARN Foundation and the Kendall County Food Pantry during a "Pig Out 2012" fundraiser, organizer Larry Motykowski said. Montykowski, of The Man Store, estimated that at least 200 people attended the fundraiser, which featured The After Five Band and a dunk tank with local dignitaries. Sponsors covered event expenses such as event shirts, equipment rentals, and trash cans. Students delivered the toilet paper and took a tour of the Kendall County Food Pantry last month.
Editor's note: This article was written by Faith Twardzik, a sixth-grader at Yorkville Intermediate School. The Kendall County Food Pantry is an organization devoted to helping out people that are unfortunate. The student council members at Yorkville Intermediate School started a toilet paper drive for the Food Pantry upon hearing that toilet paper is one of the most needed items at the Pantry. In addition to collecting toilet paper for the Pantry, these hard-working students carried all of the toilet paper to the Pantry on Monday, April 30th. Organization’s current location is too small to meet growing needs of county residents.
Over the past few years, the economic crisis in the U.S. has meant that more people than ever are struggling to feed their families – and property owners are helplessly watching the value of their homes, buildings and land plummet. But if a silver lining can be found in the dark economic clouds, it’s that those same decreasing property values have made it possible for the Kendall County Food Pantry to purchase a building to serve its ever-growing number of clients. “It’s a double-edged sword,” said Maria Spaeth, executive director of the food pantry. “As a board, we had projected that, in time, we would have to have our own building.
