Obituary: Former Yorkville Mayor Elden Maddens Dies
Elden Maddens, Dec. 2, 1921 - Jan. 8, 2013. Funeral set for Jan. 11 at 10 a.m.
The following information is provided by Larson-Nelson Funeral Home. Elden Eugene Madden, age 91, of Yorkville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. He was born Dec. 2, 1921 in Connelsville, Mo., the son of Ted and Leah (Bywater) Madden. Elden was united in marriage June 29, 1943 in Aurora, to Mary Nagy, and they spent the next 63 happy years of their lives together until her passing on July 24, 2006. Mr. Madden served his country proudly with the United States Air Force during WWII as a Lieutenant Colonel. Elden was the former State Commander of the Illinois American Legion and lifetime member of the Yorkville American Legion Post #489. He was, for many years, the Public Works Director of the United …

My great uncle Elden was a good man. Kind hearted, funny, adventurous and hard- working. He devoted his life to serving his fellow citizens in many ways, large and small.
