Think Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Events in Kendall County

From galas to walks to shopping, here's how you can participate, pledge support and donate to the cause in Kendall County.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and whether you love to shop, attend events, walk or run, there are tons of different ways to support the cause. Check out the list below of opportunities to go pink in Kendall County and beyond: There are even more ways to spread breast cancer awareness this month by supporting national organizations that are fighting for a cure. Research centers like Susan G. Komen for the Cure are selling pink ribbon merchandise and it’s a twofer — retail therapy and donating to a cause that affects millions. You can also support breast cancer research by affixing a special stamp to your mail. The U.S. Postal Service has been selling a stamp commemorating breast cancer awareness for the past 15 years. …

Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday

Don't forget to change your clocks as we fall back and gain an hour.

It's that time of the year to "fall back."  Daylight Saving Time will end Sunday, Nov. 6. at 2 a.m., at which point it will become 1 a.m. CST. Remember to change your clocks Saturday night so as to not arrive one hour early to everything on Sunday, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!  According to the The National Institute of Standards and Technology:  Daylight Saving Time, or DST, is the period of the year when clocks are moved one hour ahead. In the United States, this has the effect of creating more sunlit hours in the evening during months when the weather is the warmest. We advance our clocks ahead one hour at the beginning of DST, and move them back one hour ("spring forward, fall back") when we return to Standard Time (ST). The …
