Early Voting Heavy in Kendall County, Passes 2008 Level

More than 7,000 early votes were cast in 2012, compared to approximately 4,500 in 2008.

Early voting in Yorkville and Oswego was heavier than the presidential election of 2008 with the last two days being the most brisk, Kendall County officials said. The early voting site in Oswego was the busiest of the two early voting sites under the jurisdiction of the Kendall County Clerk's Office, with 4,037 casting early ballots. In Yorkville 3,398 early votes were cast for a total of 7,435 early votes, said Debbie Gillette, the county clerk. In 2008 there were approximately 4,500 early votes cast, she said. "We had a busy couple of days on Friday and Saturday," Gillette said of early voting in Yorkville. Early voting ended Nov. 3 in Yorkville and on Nov. 1 in Oswego. Steady Stream of Voters Turn Out for Early Voting

Kendall County voters can cast early ballots at the Kendall County Clerk's Office or the Oswego Village Hall.

Approximately 15 percent of registered Kendall County voters have cast an early ballot, according to county officials. A steady stream of voters began visiting the two early voting county sites when early voting began Oct. 22. According to county elections officials, 2,577 voters have cast ballots in Oswego and 1,566 votes have been cast in Yorkville. Additionally 1,100 absentee ballots have been requested with 600 so far having been returned to the county. Kendall County has 64,054 active registered voters, according to a report in the Beacon-News. Early Voting for the General Election Starts Today

Everything you need to know about voting in upcoming elections in Kendall County.

Early voting for the Nov. 6 General Election starts on Monday, Oct. 22 for Kendall County. Voters can go to either the Kendall County Clerk's Office, 111 West  Fox Street, Yorkville, or the Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill, Oswego, to vote. The Yorkville location will be available until Nov. 3 and the Oswego location until Nov. 1. A photo ID is required to vote. To be eligible to vote, a person must: To register, a person must bring two forms of identification, one of which is required to include your name and residence address. There are several important dates leading up to the Nov. 6 election for voters (and would-be voters who need to register). Here are some of the details, courtesy of the Kendall County Clerk's Office. The dates are set by the State Board of Elections and are subject to change. For more information, see the clerk's website. • First day for registered voters presently within the US to make application to the election authority for an absentee ballot is Sept. 27. • Last day to register to vote is Oct. 9. • First day of grace period registration and voting at the election authority’s office is Oct. 10.
