Photo: Yorkville Cheerleaders Continue Competitive Season

Yorkville is sending four teams to a competition at Joliet West High School on Sunday.

A special thanks to Yorkville High School Varsity Cheer Coach Becki Deater for submitting the following news release and the associated photographs and rosters. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, the Yorkville Middle School cheerleaders hosted the 3rd annual Prairie Conference Cheer/Poms/Dance Showcase.  Area teams including Plano and Oswego middle schools.  The event showcased routines that squads have been working on this season.  This was the first time YMS was the host school for this event.  The showcase was an opportunity for many teams to prepare for upcoming competitions and perform in a competition style setting. Cheerleaders Kick Off Competitive Season This Weekend

Middle school, varsity and junior varsity teams will compete in first competition of the season on Sunday.

A special thanks to Yorkville High School Varsity Cheer Coach Becki Deater for submitting the following news release and the associated photographs and rosters. Yorkville will be sending a triple threat to Wilmington High School on Sunday, Nov. 20.  The Yorkville Middle School Competitive team will start things off in the morning, performing at 10:48am in the medium division.  They will be going up against defending IESA state champs and rivals, Cardinal Bernardin. The YMS Competitive team finished 3rd at IESA state finals last year.  The middle school competitive team is coached by Lindsay Payne.  YMS also has a Sideline team that will compete in an upcoming competition in the small division and is coached by Nicole Zedrow. Yorkville Varsity Cheerleaders Compete in State Meet

Yorkville's varsity cheerleaders didn't advance to the final round, but coach said she's proud they made it to the state meet.

The blizzard kept Yorkville’s varsity cheerleaders from practicing much of this week, but it didn’t keep them from state competition today in Bloomington. The 16 team members and two alternates left for the Illinois High School Association’s Competitive Cheerleading State Finals about 5:30 a.m., Varsity Coach Megan Musser said. The team placed 22nd out of the 25 medium teams in the preliminary round; the top 10 teams advance to Saturday’s final round. Musser said some of the cheerleaders were disappointed with their scores, but she was proud of the team for making it to the state competition. The team placed second at the conference meet in January and third at the regional meet Saturday. “I am proud of them, because they made it,” Musser …
