Seven Ways to Help Good Causes at Hometown Days
Several organizations use Yorkville's end-of-summer festival to raise money or collect donations. Here are some details.
For more information about Hometown Days in general, please see the city's website. The Yorkville Area Kiwanis and the Citizens Police Academy Alumni are hosting a duck pluck. Participants purchase numbered tickets, which correspond to one of the 3,000 yellow rubber ducks. At 4 p.m. Sunday, someone will "pluck" a numbered duck from the pool, and whoever bought that ticket will win a four-day, three-night all-inclusive trip to Mexico. The plucking will continue until all the prizes have been awarded. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5. They will be available during Hometown Days from a tent organizers run near the main entrance.
