Fraud Reported A 41-year-old resident of the 5500 block of Fields Drive, told police he made a payment of $8,869.28 to a mortgage modification company, only to learn the the company did not exist. The resident learned the documents presented to him by the company were fraudulent. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Hit and Run Yorkville police are investigating a report of a hit and run on Center Parkway at approximately 11:45 a.m. A vehicle of unknown make struck a 36-year-old Yorkville resident's vehicle, according to police reports. Passenger Airlifted An unidentified passenger was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident Saturday night. According to police the vehicle was traveling westbound on Autumn Creek Boulevard when the driver, identified as 22-year-old Allan Weber of Plainfield, lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree on the side of the road. Both Weber and the passenger were injured, but police said the passenger, who has yet to be identified, was airlifted to the hospital. Police did not say what caused the accident. DUI Yorkville police arrested Wendy L. Wilson of Big Rock for DUI Wednesday night. Wilson, 53, was charged with improper lane usage, driving without lights and DUI, according to Yorkville police. According to the police report, Wilson was driving westbound along Route 34 without her headlights, even though it was about 10:30 p.m. She was pulled over by officers at Cannonball Road. Tomkowiak, 51, 1650 River Road, Montgomery, was charged with aggravated battery to a corrections deputy at 9:45 p.m. at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, 1102 Cornell Lane, Yorkville, according to Kendall County Sheriff’s Police. UPDATED 11:10 a.m. May 25: Kendall Marlowe, spokesman with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said the agency is investigating a case of child neglect regarding this incident. He said the child and other children are in the care of other family members. DCFS investigated another unfounded case of child neglect regarding Ackley from 2011, Marlowe said. An Oswego woman has been charged with endangering the life of a child after police said she left a 3-year-old in her car while shopping at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Zachary Reyes was found guilty in January for the drive-by shooting of Jason Ventura.
Zachary Reyes of Aurora was sentenced last week to 97 years in prison for the 2009 murder of Jason Ventura and the attempted murder of Eduardo Gaytan and Jorge Ruiz. Reyes who was 16 at the time of the crime, was convicted in January on one count of first degree murder and another count of attempted first-degree murder. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of Dec. 20, 2009, as the car Reyes was in drove east down Long Beach Road alongside another car. The driver of the second car, Jason Ventura of Aurora, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Couple at the heart of scuffle with Kendall County sheriff's deputy welcomes home baby girl.
The Montgomery man involved in a scuffle with an off-duty Kendall County sheriff’s deputy at the Oswego Walmart on Super Bowl Sunday appeared in Kendall County court Wednesday afternoon. A pre-trial hearing for Jason Thurmond, charged with battery stemming from the incident, ended with a continuation of the case to March 12. Thurmond’s attorney, Richard Irvin of Aurora, said the continuation will allow for time to review surveillance footage from Walmart from the afternoon of Feb. 5. According to an Oswego police report, several police responded to the store on Route 34 for a 911 call of a fight in progress at about noon that day.
