Circuit Clerk Candidates Talk Technology, Duties at Candidate Forum

Incumbent Becky Morganegg and her challenger Danae Iacovella, a Montgomery Democrat, are on the Nov. 6 ballot.

Kendall County Circuit Clerk of Court candidates squared off during a community forum hosted by WSPY FM Thursday night, outlining their plans for the office and reasons for running.  The Circuit Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining all court records in Kendall County. Incumbent Becky Morganegg, a Republican who has served as Clerk of Court since 2004, touted her success in implementing new technology to the office, while working within the guidelines of the Illinois Supreme Court. “The high priority is sustaining the public service end of the office and being in compliance with state statutes and local rules,” Morganegg said. County Officials Announce Re-Election Bids

Morganegg, Weis and Toftoy seeking GOP nominations.

Kendall County Circuit Court Clerk Beck Morganegg, State’s Attorney Eric Weis and Coroner Ken Toftoy all announced their re-election bids in a news release Monday morning, hoping to gain the GOP nomination in the Tuesday, March 20, primary election. Morganegg, a lifelong Kendall County resident, first was elected to the clerk post in 2004. She first entered into county government in 1987, working as a clerk for Sheriff Richard Randall. She is a member of the Oswegoland Woman's Civic Club, Kendall County Republican Women, an associate member of the Kendall County Bar Association, and serves on the Oversight of Education Committee for the Illinois Circuit Clerks' Association. Mr. Chooch, If no political opponent comes forward to challenge an incumbent office holder they automatically get reElected by default. No opponent = no debate and the status quo is perpetuated.
