Yorkville's American Legion Post is home to one of the many American Legion Baseball fields throught the nation.…More American Legion Baseball has supported baseball teams over the past 85 years, during times of world war or national tragedy. It fields over 5,000 teams and many Major League Baseball players have passed through the program.
Plenty of opportunities exist to volunteer and support local teams; coaches, umpires and general volunteers are needed to maintain the program and enhance the playing experience. Local, regional and national tournaments are sponsored each year. Player and volunteer signups begin in January of each year.

Post 489 also hosts an American Legion Auxiliary office. The Auxiliary is organized by and accepts relatives of Legion members or deceased veterans who may or may not have been members. Auxiliary members also contribute to the community through volunteer opportunities.
