Former OHS Teacher Dale Fry's New Defense: Erectile Dysfunction

Former language arts teacher says sexual performance problems should have been part of original sexual abuse defense.

Dale Fry, the Oswego High School teacher convicted last year of sexually abusing a female student, testified in Kendall County court Wednesday that his battle with erectile dysfunction was a factor that was never brought forward in his trial, and could have played a key role in his defense. In a post-trial hearing to determine whether Fry could receive a new trial with a new attorney, the Woodridge resident said he had been struggling with a decreased sexual drive, hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction since about 2000. Fry also said his previous attorney, Philip Nathe of Naperville, told him that his medical condition would have no bearing on the case. “I thought it was important enough that it be brought up because of the charges against…

KitKat0403, Yes she was 17 and yet he was in his 50's?!?! Even if she was 18, you don't see a problem with a 50 some year old man who is married with an 18 year old? Really? As for the girl, I was there once to, with him. He is good at what he does and he prays on those children who have low self esteem that catches his fancy. He makes them feel as if they are important and the only ones in his …   more ›

Walk Raises Suicide Prevention Awareness

About 100 people gathered at the Yorkville High School track Friday afternoon for a fundraiser and some reflection.

On April 10, 1996, Adam Mock called a friend to tell her he was at peace with his plan to commit suicide within minutes. His life had deteriorated through a series of bad decisions until he was fed up with it all. He wanted something so far from what he had and just couldn't seem to navigate through adulthood. "She said, 'Will you please give me one more day, one more day to talk to you?'" Mock remembered. Mock, now president of Medallion Media Group in Aurora, told his story to 100 or so people sitting in the bleechers next to the Yorkville High School track Friday afternoon. The group gathered to remember Dallas Larson, a high school student who killed himself last year, and other suicide victims, as well as to raise money for Suicide …

As a teacher in a neighboring district, it is about time that Yorkville's teachers are getting pay increases. They have consistently been at the low end of the scale with surrounding school districts. It is sad to hear people gripe about what teachers get paid when they have no idea how much work we do, or how much of our personal time and money we put in each day to make YOUR kids more …   more ›

YHS Wind Ensemble Clinches SuperState Repeat

The ensemble is invited to the 2013 festival after ranking best in its division Saturday.

The Yorkville High School wind ensemble will be headed back to Champaign next year for the prestigious Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival, according to the YHS band website. This year's 42-piece ensemble earned the Honor Band award for having the best performance among the Class AA (schools with 801 to 1,600 students) group. That means the wind ensemble will be invited to next year's festival without needing to audition, according to the YHS band website. The wind ensemble performed Saturday in the Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts in Urbana. Days before the performance, Band Director Victor Anderson emphasized the caliber of the festival. The audition process involved hiring a recording engineer. Then…
