The Regular Season Ends...The Post-Season Begins

Yorkville Middle School's cross country team ended their regular season with their conference meet on Tuesday and their home Fox Trot Invite on Saturday.

Conference Results

This year is a year of transition for Yorkville Middle School. The old Prairie Conference was, for the most part, disbanded because the five Oswego schools decided to form their own conference. The cast-aways, Kaneland, Plano, Sandwich, and Yorkville, held a mini-conference meet at Lyon Farm in Yorkville. Next year Yorkville Middle School will join the 2 Rivers Conference with schools from Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, West Chicago, and Wheaton. The top boys team and top girls team at conference received a trophy and the two individuals at each grade/gender level received individual medals. Yorkville took home every award they qualified for. Olivia Borowiak and Colleen O'Connor took the 7th grade girls medals, Alex Loos and Zack Nauman earned the 7th grade boys medals, Maggie Klemm and Kimberly Batdorf took medals for the 8th grade girls, and Patrick Black and Zack Price earned the final medals for the 8th grade boys. Both teams also took home the team trophies with the girls earned a perfect score of 15 and the boys beating Kaneland by a score of 25 to 32.

The team also performed well at the Fox Trot Invite, taking home a trophy in all four team races.

Girls JV Race

Ashley Rossolillo led the way for the JV girls who finished 2nd as a team to Batavia Rotolo. Ashley ran a great race, starting towards the end of the top ten and eventually working her way up to the front where she out-kicked a Batavia runner to take first place in 13:14. Roni Bruck (5th, 13:40), Dani Evans (9th, 13:44), Victoria Crawford (10th, 13:48), Hanna Zeinstra (12th, 14:19), and Emily Schmidt (13th, 14:26) all finished in the top 15 to earn individual medals. Nicole Rees rounded out the top 7 with her time of 14:27 to finish in 17th place.

Boys JV Race

Justin Herron fought with Cross Lutheran's Zach Rice for the entire race, but took off with about 200 meters left to take the victory with a 2-mile time of  12:20. The team won Yorkville's only 1st place trophy of the day with 32 points to beat Batavia Rotolo's 43 points. Justin was followed by medal winners Jake Carlson (3rd, 11:27), Zack Nauman (7th, 12:41), and Cole Bruck (8th, 12:41). Hunter Benesh (17th, 13:03), Bryan Corrigan (18th, 13:08), and Luke DeVol (22nd, 13:16) were the remainder of the team's top 7 runners.
