Middle School Runners at Lyon Farm

The YMS cross country team had a lot of success at the New Lenox Invite last week. However, only 19 of the team's 73 athletes participated. A meet that was planned for last Tuesday had been canceled because of the heat so most of the team hadn't run in a cross country meet until this week. On Tuesday, the team had a home meet at Lyon Farm against Oswego Traughber, Cross Lutheran, and Crossroads. With the team's top group not running to concentrate on higher-mileage training, the rest of the team picked up the slack and came in 2nd in both the girls and boys races to Cross Lutheran and Crossroads, respectively.

The girls team was led by 7th grader Dani Evans, who finished the 2-mile race in 15:05 in 4th place. Dani was followed by Ashley Rossolillo (15:06, 5th), Katy O'Malley (15:16, 8th), Kylie LaSanska (15:18, 9th), Roni Bruck (15:26, 11th), Kaylee Deutsch (15:33, 13th), and Emily Schmidt (15:38, 14th).

The boys team was paced by Cole Johnson, who finished in 4th with a time of 13:19. Following Cole were Hunter Negron (14:16, 7th), Adam Bello (14:29, 9th), Luke DeVol (14:31, 10th), Evan Bender (14:32, 11th), Bryan Corrigan (14:33, 12th), and Eric Naumann (15:14, 19th).
