Kiwanis, Boy Scouts Volunteer at Forest Preserve

Volunteers cleared brush and painted a shelter during the Kiwanis Club of Yorkville's "One Day" service project.

Volunteers, including members of Boy Scout Troop #40, spent about four hours Saturday morning painting a shelter and clearing brush at Hoover Forest Preserve at 11285 Fox Road. organized the work day.

Yorkville Patch Editor Jillian Duchnowski was there painting as part of Patch's company-wide Give 5 program. Five days a year, Patch employees nationwide step away from their laptops, put their iPhones on vibrate (or leave those things in the car, for once!) and give back to the community in which they work.
