Yorkville Public Library Hosting Adult Summer Reading Program

Program will go through July 31.

The following release was issued by the Yorkville Public Library:

Adult Summer Reading Program at the Yorkville Public Library Calling all adult readers!

Come see what the magic of books will bring you this summer.  During the months of June and July, the Yorkville Public Library is challenging all adult readers to participate in “The Magic of Summer Reading” program.

It’s as easy as stopping by the library to pick up a reading log at the circulation or reference desk and read 6 books by July 31.   Afterwards, fill out the reading log telling them what you thought of the books, and your name will be entered into a drawing for one of their four grand prizes sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

There will be a few weekly prize drawings as well during the program.  Each reading log will be accompanied with a card for a free DVD rental during the program.  The drawings will be held at the end of the program.

To celebrate the end of “The Magic of Summer Reading”, the Friends of the Library will be sponsoring a program entitled “Houdini: His Life and His Legend” presented by William Pack.  This program will take place on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 7:00 pm.   Mr. Pack will bring to life the true story of Harry Houdini: the American self-liberator, world’s hand-cuff king, exposer of fraud, original prison breaker, and master magician.  You will gasp at the story of his remarkable death, relive his baffling magic & escapes, and hear the only known recording of his voice.

This program will be for adults, teens, and families with older children (10 and up) and will include some audience participation. You won’t want to miss this!
