Health & Fitness

On the 9th Day of Christmas My Trainer Gave to Me…..

…”A Footness” Tip

High quality fitness shoes are a must when you are doing even moderate impact exercise. Your feet take a big hit during workouts and if you injure your feet, well…. it’s a bit hard to workout without using your feet  :/ Not to mention, the “impact” it would have on your day to day life!

Find shoes that match your activity-running, plyometrics, Zumba, kick boxing, bootcamp, even yoga has its’ own shoe nowadays! Also, take into consideration your foot/ankle style, too. Do you have flat feet, feet that overpronate, underpronate, bunions, old or new injuries or medical issues? My suggestion is to find an expert to help you identify the best type of shoe. Try a running store or a store that specializes in athletic shoes and have them measure your foot. They will offer suggestions and fit you with the best option.

The initial expense of the shoe may bit pricey, but, here’s my secret. I search the internet and usually find the same shoes at a greatly reduced price! I have a closet full of the same shoes! My running shoes may not be good for running anymore, they are often useful for another activity-maybe running errands, painting or watching tv :)

Another tip: with the exception of my running shoes, the shoes I wear to teach classes or workout in the gym, never “step foot” outside. (hence the closet of workout shoes) Not only does it save wear, tear and dirt on the facility-your shoes will break down at a much faster rate so need to be retired quicker.

One final bonus tip: Besides investing in the best shoes, spend your money on quality supportive undergarments-‘nuff said :)

Then treat yourself to some  inexpensive, dynamic workout clothes!!
