On the 6th Day of Christmas My Trainer Gave to Me....

…..the next Fitness Tip:

Signing up for a 5K that is raising money for a cause you believe in, is a terrific motivator to turn you into a "runner". Watch your local paper, the website devoted to that cause, runnersworld.com or cararuns.org for potential races.

Give yourself time to train to run those 3.1 miles and you should be able to pull it off with no problem. Try the Couch to 5K app, I have had clients use this program with success. Use some of the tips from the previous day’s tips for help.

Other motivators to run a 5K? If you’re competitive, go for that trophy or medal. For the “fashionistas" there are some very cool running shirts (long sleeve winter ones are my favorite!) Are you a social butterfly?… Convince your friends to sign up with you and cheer each other on!!

By the way…walking a 5K is perfectly acceptable-usually there are plenty of other walkers participating (just get out of the way of those crazy competitive runners!!
