Lazy Days of Summer 31 Day Challenge!

“What I Did on My Summer Vacation”? Not much, well, at least not enough! It’s been nice taking things a bit easier this summer...I opted to get a sub and not teach my fitness classes. I've continued to walk/run with my friend but between life stuff, vacations, illness and weird weather; we've found it's been harder to fit in 3 times a week in the summer than it was in the winter. So we've missed some days, or had to do mini sessions. I had great intentions of continuing some strength training on my own-but, umm...yeah...didn’t happen-can we spell l.a.z.y.? As a trainer, I typically don’t do much exercising during sessions, it’s all about the client, so I may demonstrate a move or two, but that’s not enough to keep me from being "the fat trainer" :)

And, of course, there's been a plethora of food and drink this summer-cookouts, parties, vacations! I literally ate my way through 5 states and 2 countries when my husband and I took a motorcycle trip through Canada last month. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to find unique places to eat and then sample their specialties! Needless to say, eating and riding, and riding and eating took it's toll! I feel like a Sumo wrestler! UGH! I hate like feeling all puffy and out of shape (does anyone?)

TODAY IS DAY ONE OF MY CHALLENGE!  (won’t you join me?)

I’ve decided that for the entire month of August (31 days) I will be hyper-focused on my eating: choosing more veggies, fruits, salads plus doing a little less "splurging" :) I'm not a big fan of "diets”, partly because it creates the mindset that you don't have to make long term changes. BUT... if a "diet" is considered a short term/jump start/back-on-track thing, it might be just what a person needs to get moving in the right direction-yea! It's often smart to give a goal a specific time frame, like, I'm pretty sure I can stick it with a change for the month, right?? Hopefully by the end of the month it's just part of my life  :)

I’ve also decided increase/intensify my workouts. I plan to commit to 6 days a week, not necessarily a killer workout every time, but mixing it up for variety and effectiveness. My daughter has been taking a bootcamp class every morning 6:15-7am. She loves it and she looks awesome! She’s been inviting me to try a class, so I finally went for it! Ouch. It was fun, and I like spending time with my daughter (my sister, too) so I committed to 30 days of unlimited classes during my 31 Day Challenge. (Tip: having someone pick me up for the class sure helps motivate me to get there!)

Note to self: OMG! I’ll never take the summer “off” again!) Why is it so hard to get back into working out after slacking off?

Today is August 1st-and the first day of my 31 Day Challenge! Past history proves that one of the best ways to achieve success is to do it with others, so I want to invite you all to create your own 31 Day Challenge and join me this August! We can hold each other accountable and cheer each other on!!
