Yorkville Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams Headed to State

The girls took first in sectionals and the boys took second.

It's been an amazing year for the Yorkville High School Cross Country teams.

Both the girls and boys teams are headed to state finals in Peoria on Saturday, Nov. 9 after placing first and second respectively at the IHSA Sectionals at Wheaton Academy.

The girls team placed first for the fifty consecutive year with a team score of 50 points and are headed to Peoria to defend their state title. 

The girls were led by: Erin Reynolds (5th), Kelsey Leedy (6th), Skyler Bollinger (8th), Maddie Dearborn (9th) and Rebecca Jasutis (30th). 

The boys cross country team finished 2nd at sectionals with a team score of 40 points.  The score actually tied for 1st but lost on first tiebreaker. 

The boys were led by: Jake Hoffert (2nd), Luke Hoffert (3rd), Nolan Tweedy (8th), Richard Skogsberg (16th), and Trevor Willis (18th).

The boys cross country team has also advanced to the IHSA State finals in Peoria where they took 3rd last year. 

The girls race starts at 11am and boys race starts at noon.
