Photos: Middle School Runners Qualify for State

Both the boys and girls teams took home sectional championship titles Saturday for the first time in the program's history.

The Yorkville Middle School Cross Country team hosted Sectionals for the first time on Saturday, October 6. The course at Yorkville High School proved to be good luck as both the girls and the boys took home Sectional championships for the first time in YMS Cross Country history.

The girls team was led by Alexis Grandys who became the first individual Sectional champion for the YMS Foxes with her 2-mile time of 11:53. Maggie Klemm finished in 7th with a time of 12:28 and Dominque Anderson finished 8th in 12:29. All three girls earned All-Sectional honors for their top 10 finishes. Nicole Doles (16th, 12:56) and Julia Megazzini (17th, 13:00) finished next for the Lady Foxes followed by Maddie Dearborn (21st, 13:08) and Lindsay Harrison (43rd, 13:46).

The boys were led by Alexx Nauman, who finished second with a time 11:16. Darien Ramos came in 4th with a time of 11:21, Dawson Diederich finished 8th in 11:28, and Zack Price finished 9th in 11:29 to qualify for All-Sectional honors. Rounding out the team were Patrick Black (19th, 11:42), Triston Robb (31st, 12:04), and Evan Jaros (32nd, 12:07). The team beat second place Lake Zurich South by 48 points.
