Cross Lutheran Girls' Cross Country Team Wins LSA State Championship

Next weekend the team will travel to the Lutheran Cross Country Championships.

The Cross Lutheran girls’ cross country team won their second straight LSA state championship this past weekend in Bloomington, Illinois.

Eighth grader Lauren Daffenberg led from start to finish, claiming the individual state title.  She was followed by seventh graders Nicole Greyer and Ava Weyrich to complete a Cross sweep of the top three spots.  Seventh graders Ashley Malas (23rd), McKenzie Lux (37th), and fifth grader Maggie Dervis (67th) also ran strong races to secure the team victory.

Cross Lutheran scored 63 points to edge out Batavia Immanuel (67 points).  Next weekend the girls will travel to Mequon, Wisconsin, to compete in the National Lutheran Cross Country Championships, a meet they have won the previous two years.
