Cross Lutheran Cross Country Wins Lutheran Nationals

Cross Evangelical Lutheran School's girls team captured the top spot Saturday at the 2nd annual National Lutheran Cross Country meet.

The girls’ cross country team won the 2nd annual National Lutheran Cross Country meet Saturday at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin. 

Skyler Bollinger (8th grade) led the way with a first place finish and a new meet record of 11:47 for the 2 mile course.  Along with Bollinger, Stephanie Schichting (7th grade) and Alexandria Weyrich (7th grade) earned 1st team all-American honors, while Kelly Knauf (7th grade), Kiley Haug (7th grade), and Lauren Daffenberg (6th grade) achieved 2nd team all-American honors.  Nicole Greyer (5th grade) made 3rd team all-American status.  Also competing in the meet were 8th graders Chavonn Gette and Taylor Wills, and 5th graders McKenzie Lux, Kendal Haug, Taylor Pavia, and Ava Weyrich.  The National championship capped off a very successful 2011 season for the Cross girls that included a second place finish at the state meet and three invitational victories.

Trevor Wills (8th grade) represented Cross Lutheran boys’ team by qualifying for the national meet as an individual.  Wills placed second at the national meet to go along with his second place finish at the state meet the week prior.
