Both Yorkville Cross Country Teams Win State

The boys and girls cross country teams both placed first in the Class 2A IHSA Class 2A State Championships.

To say it was a good day for the Yorkville High School cross country teams would be an understatement.

Both girls and boys teams placed first in the Class 2A IHSA State Championship held in Peoria on Saturday, Nov. 9. 

It is the first time since Winnebago High School in 2007 that a single school has taken both the girls and boys titles. 

Girls Cross Country


The girls team was made up by: Skyler Bollinger, Erin Reynolds, Maddie Dearborn, Kelsey Leedy,  Julia Schultz, Rebecca Jasutis, and Kaelyn Scull.

Sophomore Bollinger led her team with a 16th place individual finish (17:54) and was followed closely by fellow Sophomore Reynolds who placed 21st with 18:00. A full list of results can be seen here

The girls team took first overall with a total time of 1:31:37 and a pack time of  1:10. 

Second place was awarded to Glenbard South who had a total time of 1:31:22 but a pack time of 2:03.

Boys Cross Country

The boys team was made up by:  Jake Hoffert, Luke Hoffert, Nolan Tweedy, Trevor Wills,  Richard Skogsberg, Jake Firrantello and Thor Hester.

Junior twins Jake Hoffert and Luke Hoffert led the Foxes, finishing at 3rd and 4th with times of 14:40 and 14:43, respectively. 

Senior Tweedy came in next for Yorkville in 19th place with a time of 15:21. A full list of results can be seen here.

The boys won overall with a time of 1:16:31 and a pack time of 1:16.

Second place went to Illiana Christian who posted a 1:17:41 total and 0:52.
