Yorkville District 115 school board members appointed Dan McGuire to be the head varsity coach next academic year, according to a news release.
Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Dan McGuire presented retiring head coach Jerry Farber with a fishing rod at his farewell presentation in January – and now he’s going to step into his shoes.
District 115 school board members appointed McGuire head boys basketball coach for next academic year at their meeting Monday, according to a news release. from both coaching and teaching after 22 years with Yorkville High School.
McGuire served as assistant varsity coach for four years, freshman boys basketball coach for three years and varsity football defensive coordinator for seven years, according to the news release. He is a social student teacher at .

“I am thankful for the opportunity of leading this great program,” McGuire said in the news release. “Coach Farber laid the ground work, and I have learned so much by working with him.”
Athletic Director Seth Schoonover said he was pleased with McGuire’s appointment, according to the news release.

“He is a perfect fit for this position, and the transition will be smooth because Dan has been working with these young men for several years,” Schoonover said in the news release.
