Yorkville Middle School Student Receives IESA Scholar Attitude Award

Julia Megazzini has been recognized for her academic performance as well as participating in school activities and being active in her community.

Yorkville Middle School student Julia Megazzini has been named an IESA Scholar Attitude Award Winner.

The Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) recognizes students who perform well academically, participate in school activities and are active in their communities. 

Julia Megazzini participates in Cross Country and Track for YMS. She has a grade point average of 3.9+ and is also a member of Drama Club, recently assuming the role of Jasmine in the YMS Spring production of Aladdin and was a cast member in the Fall production of Hercules. She is a member of “Circle of Friends” and has volunteered for the Kendall County Food Pantry.

The award, which honors one student from each of 14 IESA divisions, is presented to 8th grade students who demonstrate leadership qualities and maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point-average.

Award-winners must also participate in at least one IESA activity each year of junior high and submit an original essay about sportsmanship.

The 2013 Scholar Attitude Award luncheon will be Tuesday, April 30th in Bloomington, Illinois. Megazzini will receive a plaque, medallion, DVD commemorating the event and a small monetary award.

Previous winners from YMS include: Cameron VanBoekel (2012) and Sarah Megazzini (2011).
