Yorkville 115 School Board Vote to Deny Online Charter School Application

All five of the members present at the Monday night meeting were unanimously in opposition of Virtual Learning Solutions and K12.

All five of the seven Yorkville 115 board of education members present voted to deny the online charter school proposal from Virtual Learning Solutions on Monday night, said district 115 spokesperson Megan Jacobs.

Two weeks prior representatives from Virtual Learning Solutions and K12 had met with the board and community to explain the proposal for the online charter school and answer questions, but ended up not having many answers.

On Thursday evening, K12 , with a cover letter written by VLS, for the board members to read.

Since the Yorkville board denied  the applicaiton, Virtual Learning Solutions can now appeal to the State Charter School Commission.

Other school districts who voted to deny the proposal Monday night so far include Oswego 308 and West Aurora.
