YMS Acting Principal Appointed to Serve as Principal for 2013-14 School Year

On Monday, August 26, 2013 the Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 Board of Education appointed the previously acting principal of Yorkville Middle School, Lisa Adler, to serve as principal at YMS for the 2013-2014 school year. 

The appointment of Adler follows the decision of District 115 officials to replace building leadership at Yorkville Middle School when scheduling problems impacted the start of school. Students at YMS did not receive their full-time schedules until the Friday after school had started. 

“As we thoughtfully considered the needs of our students, faculty, parents and the community, we determined that we wanted to move in a different direction in terms of priorities and educational leadership for Yorkville Middle School,” said Yorkville Superintendent, Tim Shimp. 

Adler has been with Yorkville CUSD 115 since 2007. During her career in Yorkville 115, she has served as a Language Arts teacher and Dean of Students at Yorkville Middle School. 

More recently she has served as the Assistant Principal at Yorkville Intermediate School. 

“My 17 years of teaching in the general education classroom, observing nine different principals in action over the course of my career, and being a parent have all prepared me for this position,” said Adler. “I am able to take on the perspective of a teacher as well as a parent, and at the same time pull from the strengths of so many great educational leaders, so that YMS can be the very best it can be for our students, teachers, and parents.”
