YHS Wind Ensemble Clinches SuperState Repeat
The ensemble is invited to the 2013 festival after ranking best in its division Saturday.
wind ensemble will be headed back to Champaign next year for the prestigious Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival, according to the YHS band website.
This year's 42-piece ensemble earned the Honor Band award for having the best performance among the Class AA (schools with 801 to 1,600 students) group. That means the wind ensemble will be invited to next year's festival without needing to audition, according to the YHS band website.
The wind ensemble performed Saturday in the Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts in Urbana.

, Band Director Victor Anderson emphasized the caliber of the festival. The audition process involved hiring a recording engineer. Then, the ensemble met three times outside school, brought in clinicians and added a few more percussionists to prepare.
