Local Educators Participate in Student Achievement Conference

Nine Kendall County educators made presentations at the statewide conference.

The Grundy/Kendall Regional Office of Education proudly reports that nine Kendall County Educators recently presented at the 2011 Raising Student Achievement Conference.  The Raising Student Achievement Conference is presented by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools in Cooperation with the Regional Offices of Education and the Intermediate Service Centers.

Assistant Principal Katie Spallasso and Assistant Principal Steven Magazzini presented on the impact the Assistant Principal has on balancing initiatives such as Response to Intervention (RTI), Common Core, and Building Operations while maintaining positive working relationships throughout the building.

Kendall County Special Education Teacher Elaine Brewer presented techniques that teachers can use in the classroom to provide an educational atmosphere that encompasses social/emotional learning as well as academics.

Oswego East Assistant Principal Brent Anderson presented on the path Oswego East High School chose to establish priorities for authentic improvement and cultivated staff buy-in regarding the School Improvement Process.

From the Yorkville School District, Teachers Jessica Salvesen and Cody Pynenberg presented on how to integrate essential components of Daily 5 and Café literacy instruction within the framework of the classroom.

From the Yorkville School District, Circle Center Teachers Amy Mahr and Lisa Bleck presented on how to integrate Guided Math instruction within the framework of the classroom.

State Senator Sue Rezin and State Representatives Pam Roth and Kay Hatcher took time to attend the conference and recognize the accomplishments of local educators.  The Raising Student Achievement Conference was held at the Pheasant Run Resort and was attended by over 900 educators from across the state and country.  Over 135 of those attendees were from Grundy and Kendall Counties.
