Fourth Graders at Autumn Creek Elementary School Work to Save Endangered Animals

After a vote on various endangered animals, Autumn Creek has chosen to support the Giant Panda with their fundraising.

There are hundreds of endangered animals, and one will be getting an assist from Autumn Creek Elementary.

As part of the District mission to "cultivate learners who enrich society," fourth grade students at Autumn Creek coordinated a fundraising effort to help save endangered animals and learned critical skills along the way.

Students were asked: “How can you make a positive change in saving endangered animals?”

After researching the animals currently on the Endangered Animal list, students collaborated in small groups to develop posters and presentations to encourage awareness of, and aid for, their chosen animal.

They presented their research to the entire student body who then voted on the animal they thought should benefit from Autumn Creek Elementary School support.

All votes were tallied and the proceeds of the fundraising effort will benefit the giant panda. "We learned that pandas are struggling," commented one fourth grader. "Their bamboo supply is being destroyed and they might not survive. This way, we can help them a little."

Students sold lemonade to students and staff at ACES and raised $392 to help remove this animal from the Endangered Animal list.
