1940 U.S. Census Project

On April 2, 2012, the 1940 U.S. Federal Census will be released to the public for the first time.

A nation-wide initiative has been organized to index these records (over 300 million individuals), and you can help!

The Illinois State Genealogical Society is sponsoring an informational meeting to explain the indexing project and the important role volunteers will play in helping make the census information available to everyone.
