District 115 Reassigns Four Administrators

The district will be hiring two people, including a new middle school principal, for next academic year.

has two open administrator positions after the school board decided Monday to shuffle several administrators to new assignments.

Leaders plan to post openings for a high school associate principal for curriculum and instruction and for a middle school principal as early as the end of this week, Superintendant Scott Wakeley said. A committee of teachers and parents will be involved in those hiring processes.

All the changes will take effect for the 2012-2013 school year.

Overall, the changes will provide full-time (rather than part-time) assistant principals at Bristol Bay Elementary School and Grande Reserve Elementary School, which are among the district's biggest. Other than that, no new positions were created, although some employees have additional or new responsibilities, Wakeley said.

“We are continually evaluating all aspects of the District’s operations, to meet the goals outlined in the District 115 Strategic Plan,” said Dr. Scott Wakeley, Yorkville Superintendent of Schools.  “It is through this process that we assess all resources to seek opportunities for growth, while celebrating the excellent work that is being done in every school in this District,” he said.  “We are committed to taking Yorkville from good to great.”

        Positions and personnel approved for realignment within District 115 are as follows:
Laura Hatch, Assistant Principal at both and , will serve as the full-time Assistant Principal at Grande Reserve Elementary School.
Katie Spallasso, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at , will serve as the full-time Assistant Principal at Bristol Bay Elementary School.
Gina Isabelli, Assistant Principal at and overseer of the District Early Childhood Program, will serve as Assistant Principal for both Circle Center Grade School and , while maintaining leadership of the Early Childhood Program at Autumn Creek.
Jeff Szymczak, Principal at , will be assigned a non-administrative position within the District.  The exact assignment of Mr. Szymczak will occur later in the spring as positions for the 2012-2013 school year become finalized.
