Circle Center Grade School Earns Award for Academic Excellence

Students met state and federal academic standards to earn award.

Circle Center Grade School was recognized as one of 454 schools in the state to earn the Academic Excellence Award for 2012, CUSD 115 officials said this week.

Superintendent Scot Wakeley said this is the second time the school has been recognized for academic achievement. He lauded the school's staff and faculty during Monday night's board meeting.

To qualify for the award, Circle Center made Adequate Yearly Progress in 2011 and 2012 as requird by the federal No Child Left Behind Act and 90 percent of students met or exceeded state standards in reading and math for three consecutive years, according to the district blog.

According to the district blog site, 91.4 percent of students met or exceeded standards on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test in 2011 and 94.5  percent met that mark in 2012.
