Asst. Principal in District 115 Appointed as Acting Principal at Yorkville Middle School

On Friday, August 16, 2013, Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 appointed Lisa Adler, who served as assistant principal at Yorkville Intermediate School, to serve as the Acting Principal at Yorkville Middle School, effective immediately until further notice. 

Adler has been with Yorkville CUSD 115 since 2007. During her career in Yorkville 115, she has served as a Language Arts teacher and Dean of Students at Yorkville Middle School and more recently served as the Assistant Principal at Yorkville Intermediate School.  Adler will provide daily leadership and oversee all aspects of the school operations. 

Yorkville District 115 is committed to the education of the young people in the Yorkville community. The mission to “cultivate learners who enrich society” and the vision for the District will remain unchanged through these administrative changes.

The change comes following an incident where YMS students did not receive a schedule when school started last Monday.

Superintendent Tim Shimp said in a written statement after the current senior administrative team learned of the scheduling concerns at Yorkville Middle School, the team directed the building administration to complete the scheduling in a timely and appropriate manner. However, the schedule presented did not adequately address the needs of the students or concerns of the parents. 

"Although the school year did not begin as we intended, the team-oriented atmosphere created at YMS during the past two days has provided our incoming 7th and 8th grade students a positive start as they transition to the new school year," said Shimp. 

All students received their finalized course schedule Friday afternoon, Aug. 16, and school resumed as normal on Monday, Aug. 19. 

To account for the changes, Curriculum Night at YMS has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 27 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
