It's recap time!

First, here is a link to all the results that are available at this point

Girls Varsity

Our day started off with the varsity girls 2A race.

Our girls won the 51-team meet with a score of 98 points. Runner-up Glenbard South had 204 while 3rd place Normal University had 222.

We had four girls in the top 15. There were 628 girls in the race.

Individually, we were led by Skyler's [official] 2nd place, however, the girl that was leading the race made a wrong turn about 20m away from the finish, and had to back-track around and finished 3rd. She would have won the race and Sky would have been 3rd. Skyler ran 17:10 over the 3 mile course.

Kelsey placed 10th in 18:10, while Erin was 11th in 18:20. Freshman Maddie was 15th in 18:24, capping off a great first HS race.

So our top 4 went: sophomore, senior, sophomore, freshman. NOT. BAD.

We had a bit of a gap open up after that—it'll be important going forward to close it as much as possible because in cross country you score your top 5 runners, and the lowest score wins—Sydney placed 60th and ran a solid 19:29 and Kiley was 66th with a 19:34 in her YHS debut. Julia S. placed 75th in 19:40 to round out our top seven. Summer, still working back from her injury, placed 101st in a 19:58, while Kaeyln was 137th in 20:25, Olivia 145th in 20:32, Julia M. 155th in 20:39, Tracy 224th in 21:22, Becca 239th in 21:31 and Sara E. 331st in 22:32.

Boys Varsity

Wow!
The Hoffert twins had a GREAT season-opening race, running all-time Yorkville HS best times.

Jake, for the time being, has the best three mile time in the state of Illinois with his 14 minute, 31.44 second effort over the Detweiller course for the win. Twin brother Luke ran a 14:39.46 to finish second in the race.

Nolan ran a personal-best 15:25 to place 10th in the 735-athlete field. Then we had our boys youth movement: soph. Trevor placed 59th in 16:10, fresh. Alexx 64th in 16:15 and soph. Thor 77th in 16:25.

Caleb placed 155th in 17:11, Jake F. 156th in 17:11, Cody 172 in 17:16, Kevin 217th in 17:33, Josh R. 251st in 17:48, Richard 374th in 18:42, Oscar 408th in 19:01, and Mason — who we don't actually have a time or place because his chip timing didn't work for some reason but we are sure he had a good time.

As a team, the boys placed 2nd in the 52-team field, losing to No. 1 state-ranked Illiana Christian by 16 points. Illiana had 121 to our 136. Third place Normal University had 219 while fourth place Metamora had 270 points.

Girls Open

Piper led the way for our Open girls, placing 50th in 20 minutes, 40 seconds. Sophie placed 75th in 21:13, Alana 21:43, Katy 22:42, Sara L. 22:48, Rachel 22:58, Kate 23:03, Vicki 25:22, Alyssa M. 25:36, Alyssa N. 25:53, Dania 26:41 and Kellie 26:41.

No team score was kept for the girls open, but our returners all dropped at least a minute or so from their times at the same meet last year. Piper raced her way into the varsity group as well with her effort—I had projected her to run a 21:45 and she blew my projection out of the water. I don't mind!

Boys Open

Unfortunately, the timing company has yet to post the boys open results. I know we were led by soph. Josh G. in approx. 17:40 and freshman Brett in approx. 17:50. Once they are posted I will update.

Pictures

We have had a lot of help with pictures throughout the years—We now have 47,274 pictures of our athletes on our Flickr account!

Looking ahead

We travel to Plano with our JV squad Tuesday for a small-ish meet, and then we're off to the Minooka Flight Meet Saturday. We're excited to put together a fr/so team for the first time this year at Minooka, and it's always fun to watch the flighted races.

But there is no rest for the weary—It's 8:31 right now (a significant time to some of our previous boys teams), and we have a 12-miler at Waubonsee CC tomorrow morning, so it's time to wrap up. Go Foxes!
