Surprisingly enough (or not surprising at all), Illinois has more tax drama than most U.S. states. Wonder why the price of those shorts you bought in preparation for the summer (should it ever come) was so much higher than the price on the tag? Well it turns out that we’ve got one of the highest combined state and local sales tax averages of all U.S. states.
In other tax news, Springfield is taking steps towards passing a progressive state income tax AND Madigan’s millionaire’s tax for school funding. And remember that TEMPORARY income tax hike Quinn passed? Apparently temporary means permanent guys!
