Yorkville to See More Beer Gardens in Future

Yorkville City Council removed the cap on the number of beer gardens allowed, which makes way for all four new applicants to obtain a license.

So long as it's not during a heat wave, it's great to sit outside and enjoy a cold one.

But in Yorkville's restaurant scene that wasn't quite possible as there was a cap on the amount of establishments that were allowed to serve drinks outside.

Not anymore.

The City Council recently decided to lift the cap of nine outdoor beer garden or patio licenses allowed in the city, according to the Aurora Beacon

It's a good thing too for restaurants hoping to have an outdoor beer garden, as the cap was previously set at nine and there were already six restaurants with the license, according to the Beacon. Four more restaurants had recently applied - Mongolian 211, Mike & Denise's, Stonefire and Yorkville Bowl - which meant only three would have been approved.

The Beacon reported that city officials thought removing the cap would be both beneficial to current businesses and be an incentive to new restaurants.

The beer garden license, known as Class G, is in addition to the other liquor licenses the establishment has.
