"Visualizing Yorkville Zoning" Asks for Resident Input on Zoning Ordinances

The United City of Yorkville and Civic ArtWorks are excited to announce the launch of Visualizing Yorkville Zoning, a website that allows Yorkville residents and business owners to provide direct feedback that pertains to the City’s Zoning Ordinance update. 

The United City of Yorkville and Civic ArtWorks believe that Visualizing Yorkville Zoning will provide citizens with greater and more convenient access to the Zoning Ordinance update. 

It will help citizens better understand the various Zoning Ordinance components and provide them with an easily accessible and less intimidating place to communicate their own ideas and concerns. 

The United City of Yorkville and Civic ArtWorks will also be issuing postcards that will provide residents and business owners with an alternative to providing feedback online. Ideas and concerns can be written in and sent to City Hall in order to be included within the process. 

Yorkville Community Development Director, Krysti Barksdale-Noble, had this to say about the project: “The Zoning Commission and City staff are very excited for the residents of Yorkville to get a chance to not only review the proposed changes to the City’s Zoning Ordinance, but interact and get involved in the update process as well. 

"This is a great opportunity for those citizens who would not normally be able to participate in the public hearing process or attend an evening meeting to provide valuable input at their convenience and leisure. All residents are encouraged to join in and this is the perfect vehicle to give them that ability.” 

We invite all Yorkville residents and business owners to visit Visualizing Yorkville Zoning to find more information about the project and share their thoughts about the City’s Zoning Ordinance update. 

Several projects currently posted on the site ask for feedback on barbed wire, parking restrictions and downtown building height limits. 

The primary focus of the United City of Yorkville’s Community Development Department is to ensure that all proposed new developments are consistent with the overall development goals of the City. 

Emphasis is placed on planning and economic development strategies to promote a diversified tax base ensuring an economically sustainable future as the city grows.
