Toftoy Steps Down as County GOP Chairman

Joe Gillespie, current vice-chairman of county party, will serve as interim chairman until a new county convention can be held.

Ken Toftoy is resigning as chairman of the Kendall County Republican Party, according to a statement sent by the county party Tuesday afternoon.

Toftoy, who won re-election to the Kendall County Coroner's Office in November, will step down from his party leadership position March 1. Joe Gillespie, current vice-chairman of county party, will serve as interim chairman until a new county convention can be held.

In the statement Toftoy, who has served as chairman since 2009, said he has spent more than 30 years working with the Republican Party in Kendall County.

"I have carried a lot of water to the elephant! I have enjoyed my time, but it is now time for someone else to step up and lead the party here in Kendall County," he said.
