Poll: Backyard BBQ Event Planned for Riverfront Park

City leaders promise applications and more details about the July 14 event are coming soon.

The smell of BBQ ribs will be wafting around Bicentennial Riverfront Park on July 14 as the city hosts its inaugural Ribs on the River event.

City leaders are expected to issue vendor and contestant applications within the next week. But contestants will be able to cook ribs for the competition and sell them at two bone pieces for $3 to help cover the cost of competing, Ward 3 Alderman Chris Funkhouser said.

The event also is expected to include live music and kayaking.
